Where Do I Begin?
Step I
If you are interested in purchasing a Drifter Kit or simply learning more about the program and process, please first fill out the Inquiry Form that is listed above. This alerts us that you are interested and we can begin the communication process and discuss what your goals and needs are. Once we have received your Inquiry Form, we will discuss drifter options and provide you a detailed quote that outlines the cost and breakdown of tracking options. See FAQ item on “How to document your drifter”.
Step II
Build the drifter and get ready to deploy. The deployment process will be discussed ahead of time to ensure you have a vessel/fishermen that is able to assist you. If you do not have anyone in mind that can help, we are happy to help you find. After you have received your drifter parts & transmitters, put it together, and photographed the assembled unit w/students, fill out the “Step 2 Pre-deployment” googleform. You will need to have the electroninc serial numbers associated with your drifters.

Step III
After you have deployed your drifter, fill out “Step 3 Post-deployment” googleform.
Step IV
Track your drifter in real time and if desired, coordinate your drifters data with our pre-made lesson plans. If your drifter comes ashore (or if it is recovered at sea by a mariner), we can help you make arrangements to have it recovered if you do not have connections near that beach. You will also need to fill out “Step 4 Fate” googleform.
